The Glacier House

The Glacier House in Government Camp is a charming spot for a hearty meal after a day at Mt. Hood. The place is cozy, and a good choice for families, couples, and anyone looking for a relaxed après-ski or post-hike meal. During our visit, we found the food flavors to be OK, nothing particularly memorable, but still satisfying after a day in the mountains. Service is where the experience seems less consistent due in part to limited staffing. Nice atmosphere. Service took a while. Mazama salad (greens, seasonal roasted vegetables, quinoa, sunflower seeds, and walnuts) came without sunflower seeds and the only vegetables were raw red onions and raw cauliflower florets, the later of which were visibly rotten. I couldn't believe the salad left the kitchen like that. The potatoes were very good, salty and crispy.

I was amazed by the food quality, decent prices. But service was a bit less than mediocre. Wait for even a coffee refil was crazy, one server and Food arrive before my root beer float, wish then I did not want. Hopefully they can have more employees would suck if not.

Friendly and warm place! We had a lovely family dinner here. The food was delicious as well as the cocktails. Make sure to have the Schnitzel!! They even let us borrow their Scrabble game and we were ever so grateful!! This was our second time and we will definitely make this a go-to spot whenever we are in Govy.

We went to the Glacier House on a busy Saturday evening over the Christmas holiday, and the food and service were amazing. My husband, 12 year old, 9 year old, and I all ordered different meals, and they were all really good. My husband had the mushroom stroganoff with homemade spatzle and it was creamy, warm, and delicious. My kids had burgers that were cooked perfectly and had these thick, crispy fries on the side that were some of my favorites. My son's burger had pickled jalapeños that looked homemade and were spicy and tasty. My chicken burger was moist and flavorful with a light a
