I was a bit worried about my stay after reading some reviews but was pleasantly surprised that the negative reviews are mostly exaggerated or come from a perspective of a true “resort,” which Rosario is not. I loved my stay. It was exactly what I wanted in a retreat: quiet, remote, beautiful location and view and within walking distance of the marina for whale watching and kayaking tours. PERFECT location as far as I’m concerned. I had read dining is an issue so I brought enough food for my 4 day stay and the harborside suite I was in had a full kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, bowls, silve
Unfortunately, the high cost of this resort (we paid 432 for one night) is not worth it, at least in my estimation. Arriving at the resort or village or whatever it is I was struck by just the overall shabbiness of the place. In general I don't mind that, it was just far from what was expected. It seemed...deserted or something and there was quite a bit of construction debris and trash around. They would not even consider an early check-in; the code did not become active until 3pm. Overall, that's fine, I just like it when places try to be a little accomodating (esp high price places!). The ro
An excellent, slow-paced resort for families with kids! Waking up to harborside views of ships and planes is fantastic, while hillside rooms offer great wildlife sightings like deer. Pros: Seamless contactless check-in, incredibly peaceful atmosphere, and stunning scenery. Cons & Tips: The kitchen floor was a bit sticky upon arrival. Dining options are 6–7 miles away, so if you book a room with a kitchen, make sure to pack all your own cooking supplies and groceries. Highly recommended for a quiet family getaway!
It makes me genuinely sad to write this review because Rosario was once the premier destination in the San Juan Islands. This simply isn't the Rosario many of us remember. There is nothing upscale about it anymore, as of July 2026. One thing that surprised me immediately was that there is no traditional front desk anymore. Communication is handled almost entirely by text message. While that may work for some travelers, it felt impersonal, especially at a historic resort known for its hospitality. There is also no daily maid service. I literally didn't see a single staff person the entire time
No frills space that was perfect for our trip to Orcas Island. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable - and we loved how the TV had all the streaming options. The view off the balcony was amazing! And texting services to the front desk were great and very responsive. Very close to the marina for our whale watching tour, and only 15 minutes from the downtown area for shopping and food.
