I didn’t stay here but loved the hotel restaurant. It was something out of a Wes Anderson film and I loved the smell that first caught my attention. It smelled like a smoked bourbon cocktail with aged notes and hints of charcoal. There was a sweetness to the smell and it was slightly sweet like as if I had taste it at Hot Cakes in Seattle. The service was top notch and the tatie tots had the best Cajun seasoning I ever tried. It paired well with the Portland ketchup which includes all spice for an added kick. My family and I had mostly appetizers and the kids humus was standard and the salad
We stopped in last night for dinner, Wednesday late evening about 8 pm. We didn’t walk out until 930. Service was slow, our server went to break and another took over We had to ask a few times for refill. This place is expensive, I got the pasta white wine rabbit sauce with shrimp. I liked that the proportions weren't huge, but for $30 I didnt understand how they got that price. I felt like the dish was a let down. It was a light sauce more of a oil based, I just felt like for $30 it was going to be a bit more lavish? Sauce wise. I know when you go out you need to pay for the experience, serve
We all know that the food here is good but expensive. I stopped by with my fiancé to grab a drink and a bite. We got the (3) sliders (2) drinks and it was $40. Ok. Expected. What wasn’t expected was all the flys. We started out sitting by the pool tables. We had to move to the bar because we were being dive bombed by flys. We moved to the bar where there were less. But. Still flys. Not just in the bar, but the kitchen also. Why does such a well known establishment business have so many flys? They literally have commercial bug zappers. Do I need to send an Amazon link?
I absolutely adore McMenamins Olympic Club. I have so many memories here—family stays, cozy getaways, and those perfect small-town adventures that just stick with you. What McMenamins—and especially the McMenamin brothers—have done for the Pacific Northwest is something special. I always tell people they’re basically the Disneyland of the Northwest. The way they’ve invested in restoring and preserving historic properties that might’ve otherwise been lost is incredible. They’ve built a brand that feels cohesive yet unique—no matter which location you’re in, there’s a familiar warmth in the loo
We have been here a few times. Always an adventure. Love the location, however you are next to a train station, they do provide ear plugs, highly recommended to use them. Would love to stay longer next visit, very affordable. The food is always exceptional. The people excellent and the ambiance second to none. Highly recommend.
