What can I really say about this place? I didn't know what to expect. I think someone told me to expect the unexpected but I still didn't quite understand. 1. It can be overwhelming. I've never been overwhelmed by a hotel, so that's a good thing. 2. They have a collection of the best staff in Washington. Everyone is so sweet and kind, you can't have a bad day here. Not for long anyway. 3. It's gorgeous. Everything about it, I don't even want to describe the interior because it's something you should absolutely experience and take time doing so. 4. This is the only hotel I've checked into
Absolutely loved our stay at the Elks Temple. The parking wasn't as complicated or limited as we imagined it would be. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The decor, bars, and restaurants were fantastic! The breakfast was especially good. We don't normally eat at the same place twice on a trip and once we had the breakfast once, we were already ready to come back. Definitely a great place to stay in Tacoma.
Who doesn’t just love a McMenamins? Giving a McMenamins a mediocre review is a little yelling at a puppy—the problem is almost certainly with the person, not the puppy. I’m no different. I love McMenamins and had been looking forward to Elk Temple in Tacoma for almost a month. Still, I have to say, it really disappointed. We left after one night. Why? Well, structurally, Elk Temple is a big box with 45 rooms and a music hall. It’s busy, very busy, with guests, and the music venue is loud at midnight. You're in for a tough night if you’re not wanting to hear some Lady Gaga and Ke$ha. The rooms
What a crazy place to turn into a hotel! Lots of history behind this location, hidden room, and lots of hallways to get lost in. The rooms are a little small and ours would have been better suited with a queen size bed vs a king but we loved it still. You jabe to check out the bar called The Old Hangout, its amazing.
Love the pub!!! Walked over to grab a bite to eat after visiting a bookstore because someone told me McMenamins needs to be experienced and I had a lovely time. Food was good and the bartender made me a drink based on what I was in the mood for. It was interesting to people watch- fans of this place take their passports seriously!!!! I loved it enough that I plan to visit other locations as I travel the PNW later this summer. Oh and the front room with the fireplace- could have stayed all night reading. Absolutely gorgeous!
