La Floridita PDX

As a Cuban and Florida native stepping in feels like I’m home. It’s the only place I can find a Cortadito that tastes almost identical to my grandmas in the PNW. We had some Argentinian empanadas and a papá rellena (bread crumb coated mashed potatoes and ground beef) that were good although I really LOVE the ham croquetas and guava pastelitos (best I’ve ever had) and tequeños are always a hit. No but really I could write a full review just on the flakiness paradise perfection that is their pastelitos and the seasoned by the gods ham croquetas. We stopped in one evening for a Cubano and coffee and I’m glad we did. The cortadito as well as the cafecito were absolutely delicious. For me, the Cubano is all about the first bite with the bread, mustard, and pickle combined with the swiney pork goodness and this sandwich had all the above. The staff was amazing. We watched some of the FIFA game with them and the pastries were a great treat! If you want a taste of Miami you need to check this place out.

What a gem of amazing this cafe is. I got the Colada and Guava Pastelito- it was so light and melted with each bite. Love this place wish I lived near here but will be back when I am in the neighborhood.

I really enjoyed this cafe. I’m Dominican so it felt amazing to enjoy a good strong cafecito and some pastries. The croquettes were my favorite, as was the guava and cheese pastelito. The chicken papa rellena could use a little love as the chicken was dry and bland. I’d also love to see more filling in the pastries.

My boyfriend and I are both from Florida, so the bar was high. Here, they have some of the best croquettes and pastelitos we’ve ever had and the choco bombon was absolutely delicious. Everything was so satisfying and comforting. We’ll definitely be back :D
